Title: A New Dance
Note: This chapter was formally published as part of 'Musical Moments', which was a fic made up of separate little stories for each chapter, each in response to Gater 101's Music Challenge. Which involved playing a randomly generated piece of music from your player and writing whatever story comes to mind, but only for as long as the track lasts. It was challenging, but fun and resulted in seven different chapters. As I am thinking of taking some of those little stories further, I need to separate the chapters out. So, sorry for republishing (though it gives me a chance to edit out mistakes!) and sorry for those who were kind enough to leave reviews to 'Musical Moments' as I have now deleted it! I appreciated the reviews and am sorry to remove them. I highly recommend listening to the piece of music listed as you read the fic! Enjoy.

Song: Akua Tuta – by Kashtin (from the Due South Soundtrack)
The fires burned through the night's darkness, the barrels of burning light highlighting the dancers. They moved fluidly through the firelight, acting out a routine or perhaps a story that he didn't know or understand.
But, he understood the swinging open expanse of skin. Understood the rush of interest he felt as she turned, her hair sweeping away from the long length of her exposed back. He was pretty sure he had never seen her move like that before, but she was now and he found himself rooted to the spot, his ruus wine halfway to his open lips.
The red firelight melded with the red clay trailed over her skin in patterns he didn't understand, he saw only that they outlined the shape of her throat, her cleavage, her spine and the lines of her arms as she twirled with the music.
Yes, this was an entirely new side of Teyla Emmagan he had never seen before, and as she turned in his direction dipping down to crouch down to the ground her eyes met his through the crowd and he was pretty damn sure she smiled at him. Things appeared to be changing.
