This is just a little drabble I thought of today while I was reading all the Klaine prom spoilers. This scene takes place in Kurt's room when Blaine comes over to pick him up before prom. Blaine goes up to Kurt's room to see if he's ready to leave, and this is what follows… (reviews are love!)
"You look amazing, baby."
Kurt, who was checking his hair one last time in the mirror, turned around to face Blaine with an amused smirk on his face.
""Baby", really? We're doing the whole pet names thing now?"
Blaine smiled sheepishly.
"Well, yeah, I mean, we're dating, right? Isn't that part of the whole dating thing?"
Kurt just rolled his eyes.
"Blaine, do I really have to remind you about the Jeremiah incident right now?"
Blaine's smile turned into a look of confusion.
"What? Why are we talking about him? I never called him baby…"
Kurt turned back around to continue fixing his hair.
"No, instead you just told him to keep his toys in his drawer – sorry, that's beside the point. The point is that you were trying too hard, Blaine. You were trying to make him fall for you. You were trying too hard to be romantic and, if I'm being completely honest here, I have to say you completely failed."
Blaine looked at Kurt with a pathetically hopeless expression.
"I told you that I'm bad at romance, Kurt. I had to try something…"
Kurt applied one last bit of hair spray to his hair and turned around once again. He walked over to Blaine, who was standing next to Kurt's bed with a helpless look on his face, and put his hands on his boyfriend's shoulders.
"Blaine, you don't have to try anything with me. When I fell for you, it wasn't because you were trying to impress me and be all romantic. You were just being yourself. I like you, Blaine, not the Blaine that tries to be romantic and sappy and turn everything into some fairytale situation. Now come on, let's go appease Carole and let her take a million pictures of us, and then we can go to prom, and you can do all your ridiculous dance moves, and then I'll kiss you because I'll be so impressed by how crazy you are, and it will be perfect because we'll be together, not because you're going to try to make it the most romantic night of my life, okay?"
Kurt kissed Blaine quickly on the cheek, grabbed his hand, and led him into the family room to start the traditional pre-prom picture taking. Blaine made a mental note to just be his ridiculous, crazy self that night, and ditch all the romantic plans that he always knew, deep down, would probably fail anyway.
