What Happened?

Bella's POV:

Luckily for me, Charlie had been called into the police station for a quick check up on something or another. I quickly finished my dinner and downed the rest of my water. I hurried upstairs to brush my teeth and make the finishing touches. Edward was going to be over in ten minutes to take me to a fancy dinner, which I had refused stubbornly, until Alice had told me it would be a "special night." So then, of course I had to accept! The Cullen's were so pushy, well except for Carlisle and Esme of course, I grumbled to myself as I brushed my teeth fiercely. Alice had already come over in the afternoon with Rosalie to make me up; in other words look like a Barbie doll. I was dressed in some Vera Wang, whatever designer that was, maroon dress that ended right at my knees. I had on a pair of gold flats and my hair was up in what could only be a disastrous bun. But it did look shiny, I had to admit. As for the makeup! I hadn't endured so much torture since Edward had left. I now had "long, volumizing" lashes with magenta eye shadow and a lot of sticky lip gloss on. I examined myself and scowled. A knocking on the door told me he was here. My heart fluttered and I hurried downstairs. Opening the door, I gasped at his beauty. He was in a black suit with a green undershirt that brought out his burning eyes even more. His hair was perfectly kept, not too long or short. When I dropped out of my daze, I noticed his mouth was dropped open and he was looking me up and down in a way that made me blush.

"Ready to go? That's great!" I announced quickly and hurried out the door, past him. He slowly closed the door and walked over to me. My heartbeat increased as he came closer and closer. I breathed in his scent as he closed the space between us and touched my face gently.

"You look gorgeous," he breathed into my face, his golden eyes burning into mine, churning my stomach. I felt fain.

"Thanks," I stammered,"so do you, of course." His brow furrowed when I said "of course" and then he flashed his dazzling smile,

"Let's go" he said and he opened the car door for me then shut it and quickly, for me, went over to his side and got in. The whole way there, I felt jittery and Edward just smiled the whole time. Luckily, thanks to Edward's maniac driving, we got there in about two minutes. As we entered the five star restaurant, the feeling of happiness and content swirled around me. Edward was back for good and everything was back to normal. Well, except for Jacob, but I tried to push those feelings away for tonight. Tonight would be perfect, but little did I know that with my luck, nothing about this evening would be close to perfect.
