She, Emma, and Mary Margaret sat at a table in the Rabbit Hole, all three nursing their drinks. Mary Margaret had called for a girl's night out, declaring that the three of them hadn't spent enough time together recently. Of course, she had immediately declined, saying she was far too busy. And of course, Mary Margaret had pulled the 'but you're family' card. So here she sat.
Emma pushed her drink away with a huff. "Tell me again why we're here?"
"Because we need to bond!" Mary Margaret stated. "We've been so caught up with Zelena that we've hardly had time to breathe, and now that she's locked away, we can spend more time with each other."
Regina rolled her eyes. "Dear, perhaps there's a reason why we don't spend time with each other."
"Yeah," Emma said. "Some of us are busy with our secret lover."
Regina glowered at the impertinent sheriff. She'd merely suggested that she might be seeing someone the other day, and Emma had made it her new goal in life to discover who it was. As if she would ever tell them.
"What secret lover?" Of course, now that she knew, Mary Margaret would want to know his identity as well.
"Even if I wanted to tell you, which I don't, I would tell you two anyway. You'd probably harass him to death." Regina took a sip of her cocktail and watched mother and daughter toss around ideas.
"It's probably someone who does whatever she wants."
"Would string the moon for her..."
"Buy her jewelry..."
Regina slammed the glass onto the table, causing the two idiots in front of her to jump. "I'm not the silly romantic you think. I don't want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don't want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want...a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake up, knowing that my heart is safe. I want to love and be loved."
"Oh my gods, it's Robin."
Regina turned to look at her stepdaughter. "What?" she asked, trying to feign ignorance.
Emma laughed. "Come on, Regina, everyone knows you gave your heart to Robin to keep safe when Zelena was trying to take it from you."
Mary Margaret was practically bouncing in her seat. "I knew you didn't hate him!"
She just smiled and continued to sit there, listening to her two favorite idiots talk about secret lovers and given hearts.
