"None of the families of the victims ever hired you, did they Scott?"
Lauren Winter stands in my path, looking up at me with a menacing stare. She seems to have figured out my whole ordeal, everything that I have done. A pity, really. I was going to stop after Ethan Mars showed what he could do. I had found the one man who would go through so much; yet I knew that Lauren didn't care.
"I called every last one of them." Lauren spits out her words, her eyes drifting away, almost as if she was disgusted to look at me. I can't blame her, what I've done must seem as the worst act on the planet; the act of killing a mother's child.
I notice Lauren slowly reaching into her coat pocket, and realize what she was here to do.
"All you did was collect the evidence you left behind. Wipe out your past- and feed on the misery of the parents whose children you killed." I don't move or speak, keeping a direct gaze at my soon-to-be killer.
Lauren pauses, biting her lip. "I swore on my son's grave that I would kill the man who murdered him."
"I'm gonna keep my word."
In a flash a gun is raised, a swift move full of hatred and distress. In a quick move of a finger, Lauren fires a shot, hitting straight on, echoing through my brain and into the darkness.
What a smart woman.
