Prologue-The Game

Disclaimer-Unfortunately I don't own these AWESOME characters. tear

"Are you coming to the game?" Gabriella called out to Ryan. She and Taylor had been driving one of the golf carts from Lava Springs Country Club to the baseball field when they had spotted Ryan Evans walking to the parking lot.

"No, I'm not staff so I wasn't invited."

"Well, we're inviting you now. Hop in." Ryan hesitated for a moment then got in the back seat. When they got to the field Ryan joined the game to prove to Chad that you can dance and be good at sports.

"Wow, he is REALLY good at baseball," Gabriella thought to herself as she cheered her lungs out. She wasn't thinking about troy Bolton as people would've expected because Troy had skipped the game. No, she was thinking about the last person anyone would've expected.

Ryan. The guy she beat out for the lead of the winter musical at East High. The shadow of his twin sister, Sharpay, who was about as nice as a pack of ravenous wolves. If you would've told anyone that Gabriella was thinking of Ryan as more than musical competition than they would have burst out laughing out of disbelief. And yet here she was cheering him on in the baseball game.

"Who would've thought that Ryan was so good at baseball?" Gabriella asked Taylor. Taylor smiled and shrugged at this question and went back to watching Chad. Gabriella, however, went back to watching Ryan. She couldn't help herself.

She was actually thinking about Ryan so much that she had forgotten about Troy. More than once during the game Gabriella had to apprehend her thoughts about Ryan from straying too far away from complimenting his baseball abilities, which she was finding harder and harder to do by the minute.

Finally the game had ended. The wildcats had beaten the opposing team by one run so the employees of Lava Springs were all cheering even louder than they had been during the game. As Gabriella followed Taylor out onto the field to congratulate the team she couldn't help but keep looking over at Ryan, no matter how hard she tried to stop herself from doing so.
