My name is Barry Allen.
I am the fastest.
I've seen what I believed to be death - raced against it, run headfirst into it, and for a time even became it - but this was a lie. Death is a finite state, a long, slow decay that crawls across the universe, infecting the frail, the temporary...the slow.
I believed I was dead once, but death could not catch me.
I believed I was embraced by a force, a living embodiment of speed itself, the source of my power and identity. This, too, was a lie.
I am not an avatar of some abstract idea of motion, nor am I just a red-and-yellow streak in the grand tapestry of time.
I am time. I am speed. I am no more man than I am alive. I am simply the fastest.
My name was Barry Allen...
...but only for a flash.
