She watched him sleep peacefully next to her despite their huge fight just a few hours ago. But she just couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned as his words from their fight rang in her head. She knew he didn't mean it, he was just angry but that didn't make the words sting any less.
"Well if you don't like it why don't you just leave without warning again," he yelled loudly. His face was bright red, she could tell he was beyond angry at this point.
"You don't understand!" she yelled back, trying desperately not to cry. She knew he was wrong in doing that, but she did have her reasons. Reasons that he would never understand, because they were reasons she never told him basically on secrets she had always kept.
"I understand perfectly! You left me with nothing more than a Dear Jethro letter and your coat. I was thought everything was fine! But apparently I was wrong! Did you ever love me at all?" That stung the most and they both knew it. The painful cringe on her face was a dead giveaway and he could tell she was about to cry. He felt guilty for doing it, but he was mad and when he was mad he had a hard time controlling his temper.
She ran out of the room, grabbed her keys and got into her car. He knew better than to follow her, that would just make things worse. Instead he would just go upstairs to their room and wait for her. She would come home eventually, he hoped. At some point he fell asleep and when she returned from her drive two hours later she found him sound asleep on their bed. She was surprised that he hadn't passed out drunk under his boat.
Now she sighed softly as she replayed the fight in her head while lying wide awake in their bed. This was their first big fight since they had gotten back together. On one hand she knew it had to come at some point, they hadn't really discussed the matter before they got back together. But on the other hand it had been six months and she was starting to think he was not going to bring it up again. Apparently she was wrong. She loved him. She always had and she always would. Even when he was being a complete and other pain in the ass she loved him. But she wasn't sure he knew. She needed to prove it to him. And she was going to do that by not leaving this time. No matter what happened, no matter how bad it got she was not going anywhere.
Suddenly knowing what she had to do, she shook him softly until he woke up. He might get mad at her for waking him up, but she decided it was well worth the risk. "What Jen?" he asked, still half asleep.
"Wake you up in the middle of the night to say I will never walk away again, I'm never gonna leave this bed," she whispered softly. Even in his half asleep state he smiled and that let her know everything was okay.
"So come here and never leave this place," he answered in a sleepily voice.
"I need you to trust me, go easy don't rush me, help me out." Now probably wasn't the time for a heart to heart but she couldn't help it. These were things he needed to know, things that should've been said six months ago but never were.
"I do Jen. I always have trusted you and I always will. I know you had your reasons even if I still don't know what they are. And as it much as it hurt when you left I'm not mad at you. Not anymore anyways." She smiled and he smirked.
"I love you Jethro, always had always will."
"Yeah I know Jen, I love you too. Now just never leave this bed." She nodded, a huge grin evident on her face. As she snuggled up next to him he laid his arm gently around her waist and pressed a soft kiss to her head. There was no way she was ever leaving this bed.
