Like a Lump of Coal

By: Higasa

"Hey, Shin-chan?"

"Hm?"

"Do you believe in Santa?"

"No."

"How about when you were little?"

There was a short pause. "Not really."

"Coming from Shin, that would mean yes," Uchi said.

Shin glared at him. "Why are you asking Kuma?"

Kuma shrugged. "Well it's kind of like you wanting Yankumi to realize that you're in love with her isn't it?"

He knew he shouldn't have admitted to the guys he had feelings for their homeroom teacher.

"I don't see how this has anything to do with that," Shin said, annoyed.

"Well think about it, Shin-chan. Santa isn't real right? But when you were little someone must have told you that Santa would bring presents on Christmas because you were good."

"And if you were bad you'd get a lump of coal," Uchi chimed in.

"Right and see Yankumi is like a lump of coal because at first you didn't like her."

"I still don't get it." Shin said flatly.

Uchi patted him on the shoulder. "Don't worry about it Shin…you'll get it when you fall in love someday."

Sometimes he didn't know who was stupider, his friends or oblivious Yankumi. Because he was already in love and quite frankly he didn't understand Kuma's analogy at all.
