A/N: My first POTC fic, and probably only the 2nd poem I have ever written in my life. It's a small dose of fluff for those eagerly searching Will/Elizabeth fans out there. It's short, but I hope you enjoy!

IMPORTANT -These are (my view of) Will's thoughts in the hold during the scene of the movie when he bandages Elizabeth's cut hand below decks. It's in a poetic form, obviously.

I Can Only Watch You Walk Away

By Rose-Arwen-Padme

I look in your eyes

Chocolate swirling with hazel

I see my past

It was with you

I see my present

It is with you

I see my future

It will be with you

That much, though, I can only hope

You were taken

I couldn't breathe

You were cut

I felt your pain

Your pain is my own

Your very presence

Both nurtures

And tortures me at the same time

It's remarkable how often those traits coincide

What's this?

A coin you took from me?

Long ago?

But please, don't fear—

For I am not angry at you

I could never be angry at you

I am angry at the truth

At my lineage

You say it would be awful if they knew the truth

But I don't care what 'they' think, what 'they' feel

Only what you think, what you feel

The son of a pirate, you see before you

You know the truth

As do I

The Governor's daughter,

Being looked after by "Bootstrap" Bill's son

What a pair we make

But we are not a pair

I have dreamt of a day where I might call you my own,

And you might call me yours

But that day is not today,

And I fear it will never come

Especially now that you know the truth

A blacksmith, I was

A blacksmith, I still am

But now I am a blacksmith with a family history

A threatening family history

I cannot look at you

I fear I will see things in your eyes I could never bear to see

You say to me you are sorry

I believe you

But I remain quiet

My fear stills my tongue

Fear of the absolute truth that comes with this coin

Fear of your rejection

Fear of your dismissal

You stand up quickly

I want to reach out and take your hand

I do not move

Fear mercilessly commands my actions again

I can only watch you walk away

…Elizabeth…
