Disclaimer: One shot about my OC who will be named later on in other works. Plus I own nothing except my OC.
Her whole life since it changed drastically at the age of nine was lived in secret from day to night. It changed so much yet no one knew any different except those of her small family who lived the same way. And the city in which she lived was much the same keeping its secrets hidden in the darkness that no light could penetrate. Only those who delved into that darkness would find the truth and her family were the only ones strong enough to do so. Though by doing so the light within their own hearts was smothered and strangled until they resurfaced into the morning light.
When night fell upon the city, it took on a sinister and deadly presence that most ignored unless they were on the streets. Madmen and thieves ran the streets where there was no light to illuminate their crimes to the world. The worst of them were locked away in an asylum for a few weeks before they somehow broke free to roam the city. So when night fell, it was not uncommon for anyone to see a figure standing on the edge of one of the many buildings like she was now. This was just one moment for her where the darkness began to eat away at her heart drowning her from within.
Shoulder length black hair caught the breeze as the swayed slightly, eyes drifting to look down at the street below.
"It would be so easy just to step off." she thought with a sigh tearing her eyes away from the ground to the sky. "But then what would be the point of that? Death that's what."
"You know that there are better things for you to be doing right now, right?" a voice spoke up from behind her. "But by all means please continue standing there like you're thinking of jumping."
"Never thought of that." the young woman lied not wanting to worry him though she didn't move from her perch. "Thanks for the suggestion Dick."
"Wasn't a suggestion."
With a laugh she looked back at her brother a grin on her pale face, the lights of the city reflecting in her blue gray eyes as well as in his cerulean ones. Dick shook his head bangs settling on his forehead out of his eyes as he smiled back at his twin sister watching her closely.
"Are Dad and Little D already out?" she asked turning her back on Dick to look out over the city again.
"Yeah, he called me to find out why you were up here." Dick answered with a shrug. "Plus Jay and Timmy are out somewhere."
"Then I guess I'll have to be going soon."
"Meet you at the usual place."
The young woman nodded hopping down from the ledge still smiling at her brother before she disappeared through the door into the building. Had she wanted she could have gone the other way by jumping but she had no way of knowing if someone would be there to catch her. Plus she wasn't about to throw everything away and leave her twin, her father and her little brothers in that way. Even with the crushing force of the darkness she would do her best to always back away when on the edge.
