Percy stumbled thorough the doors and
joined his friends. Annabeth's weight
suddenly was lifted from his shoulders,
but he did not freak out. She must have
wanted to sit down because of her broken
ankle. He sagged against Jason, who
was right next to Percy. No one voiced the question they all dreaded. Who was to close the doors? He looked to his left for
Annabeth, but she wasn't there.
"Annabeth?" He called, worried. He
stopped leaning against Jason.
"Annabeth?" He repeated, louder this time.
Something sailed over his head and landed
at his feet. He picked it up and realized it was a
Yankee's cap. Annabeth's Yankee's cap. "No"
he whispered as he spun around and saw
Annabeth closing the doors. "No!" He yelled,
sprinting for the door. "I love you, Seaweed
Brain" was all she said in response. The doors
closed and he collided with a seamless wall. He
sobbed and pounded against the wall screaming
her name. When he sank to his knees he felt
something next to him. Daedalus' laptop. He
opened it, tears streaming down his face, and
saw a picture of New Rome. The caption read:
"Sorry I screwed up your dream, Seaweed Brain."
