Kagome waited just at the foot of the tree for him. After the last outbreak of arguments, I honestly didn't think either would come seek each other out so quickly, but being a demon slayer, you always see strange things.
Pale face and blue eyes looked up into the branches to find out the crimson she always loved to snuggle against when she thought no one noticed it. Of course how could we not when at the same time, the hanyou who usually had a surly mouth remained silent and flushed.
There was a loud huff up above and the sounds of leaves rustled before a odd looking Inuyasha deposited himself on the forest floor just before her. I could still make out bits of leaves that tangled in the fine strands of silver as I leaned in to try and hear what was being spoken.
"Inuyasha…I…didn't mean to start an argument. It's just; I think I'm losing time with my family. As much as I love being here with you, you know I have my family on the other side of the well that wishes to see me every once in a while."
Already, the triangular appendages atop his head fell, nearly disappearing if not for the slight twitches they made to continue listening.
"Kagome you have to realize something," he stepped closer to her, cutting off any personal space either of them had as his hands swept to her arms, holding her tightly as if he were afraid she'd disappear if he didn't "when the jewel is complete. When Naraku is destroyed, you will go back to your world for good."
The young miko caught her breath in her throat as her eyes watered with unshed tears that I freely allowed to flow down my cheeks. Inuyasha might have smelled the crystal drops and caught me eavesdropping but it seemed the conversation had all of his senses entangled so deeply he didn't seem to realize the audience.
"Inuyasha," Kagome whispered just a second before lips came crashing down to taste her mouth. I had to bite my bottom lip from making out my own surprised squeak from the action. Never had I seen him so openly with his feelings toward Kagome and it came as a shock when Kagome wrapped her arms about his neck and deepened the kiss.
With a long sigh, I stepped back, deciding to head back to the monk and kitsune and left the two souls that would always be in danger of the deadliest poison known to man. Time.
