Twister. Jason Todd is playing twister and he loves it. Loves the absurdity of the situation, of having the cheap hotel room filled with shouts and laughs as a jaded ex-Robin, an alien princess and, well, Roy Harper (Jason has no words to describe the man) are playing the most stupid and childish game Jason can think of. They're not even doing this right, with Roy poking Jason with his toes at any given chance and Kori's hair practically strangling them, long fiery locks twisting around Jason's wrist.
It the most ridiculous activity he'd ever partake in, but he can't help the warmth filling his chest, can't help the laughing breathes leaving his mouth. Because this- playing, doing whatever with these two people he had come to trust with his life- this feels more like family than anything he felt in years.
The game is forgotten, with Jason giving up and simply laying on the mat, staring at the ceiling, the corners of his lips pushed up. Roy untangles Kori's hair from his ankle and joins him, laying on his side next to Jason. Kori murmurs something about silly humans and their silly games, but her voice is filled with affection, and Jason grabs her waist to pull her to his side, burying his face in her hair as Roy wraps an arm around Jason's torso, murmuring soothing words as Jason shivers, tears and chocked sobs escaping him.
He feels stupid, weak. He feels bad for ruining everything, always ruining everything good. But they never mind, always holding him tight, wiping the tears from his face, kissing his temple. He holds back just as tight, trying to control his breathes, trying to let go of whatever darkness is taking over every happy memory in his life. He's not alone anymore, won't be alone for a long time to come, and he likes to believe that soon enough he'll be able to make new memories that won't be tainted by that darkness.
Hours later, after the sun had set down, the three of them are sitting in front of the open window, sharing a bucket of ice cream between them. Roy, being Roy, can't help himself from pushing cold fingers up Jason's shirt, but Jason doesn't try to shoot him and Kori keeps quite, silently grabbing the spoon with a smile.
This is a memory Jason won't ever leave behind.
