I see her right there and I watch her chest rise
I see it fall quickly in fearsome ire at golden eyes
I know it's there festering in her head
Her eyes are wide and frozen on the fight
Her heart beats sporadically
Like a drummer boy off beat
Like the waved crashing down on the sea
All because of me
I don't think I'll ever forgive myself
So many mistakes I've made
I loved her then crushed her
And I'll love her forever
But sometimes love isn't enough
Sometimes fear overrides the fluff
I know one day she'll run
When it has all become too much
And if she runs away
I will never follow
Whatever makes her happy I'll have to swallow
If she falls into mortal arms I'll leave her be
If she screams bloody murder I know it's because of me
And I know that it's all my fault but I cannot bear the thought
But if she stops loving me I'll leave her alone
I'll wait for her to come back home
I will not smile, nor be happy or free
Even though I told her that as long as she's happy I'm pleased
And the fighting is close to over
The dance is a dream
The fire swirls around her head as I lunge and she screams
And the dance is at a close
And the fire is disconnected
And new flames arise
The enemy is dead
I don't look at my love till it's over
And finally I look
And she's holding the stone
Against her perfect wrist
Like the sacrificing wife
And I hold her close and she cries
And I know she never deserved this life
