Prologue
This is it. The moment every angel hopes and waits for: The Guardian Ceremony. The Guardian Ceremony is a spiritual event in which every angel that has fulfilled their life and afterlife's goals is granted a child to keep watch over. We then become guardian angels. It is an extremely special ceremony. Only angels that are seen by God as the most helpful, caring, and loving are given this once-in-an-eternity chance. I am one of those few in this year's Guardian Ceremony. I have been seen. I have been heard. I have been given the chance. And today I will become one of the highest ranking angels there are. You may think this is all very important to me. But you see, on top of all of these things, I just really want to get back to Earth. I want to see my daughter again. I want to be with her. My daughter Emily is five years old. I died in a car crash when she was three. My husband Nicholas has been taking care of her ever since the accident. I miss him very much, but I truly need to see my Emily again. That is why I must become a guardian angel; to get home.
"Alice, you may proceed up to the highest cloud," the HopeTeller informed me. The HopeTeller is the angel that speaks for God. He tells us what to do. He is kind of like the vice president. Not in top/1st charge, but 2nd or 3rd. I did as he said and flew up to the highest cloud in Heaven. This is where we are presented our child. It is a private matter, though if angels choose to share with others their ceremony experience, then it is allowed. "He will see you now Alice," the HopeTeller told me. I slowly flew up through the remaining veil of clouds with anticipation and excitement almost exploding out of me. "Good morning Alice. It is time that you are granted your very first child," God's loud voice boomed around me. It was as if I was in a small room where everything said echoed off of the walls in a loud yet calming way. "Do you Alice, promise to be the best guardian angel you can be, to watch over your given child like it was your very own son or daughter, to keep our secret, to always be smart and make good decisions, and to stand for all angels in Heaven?" God asked me. Wow, that's a lot to handle, and I know that there will be risks that I will have to take, but I must. "I promise." "Do you promise on your wings?" "I promise." "Do you promise on your life?" "I promiseā¦"
