There had been many perfect days that had followed the thawing of Arendelle, and there were so many in fact that sometimes things got a little boring for the princess, Anna.
Kristoff had it easier, being free to wander around and roam as he pleased, and he had to admit, he felt a little guilty that he should be able to be so free, when she was cooped up inside all day.
How fair was that? She wasn't the queen or anything, and she by no means would be offending anyone for having a good time. And when you're a rough and tumble outdoors lover, who answers only to the wild (and your wife) you get the urge to surprise her with a romantic trip up a mountain alone where the ice caps seldom ever felt the heat of the sun, and there was nothing in their way.
Nothing to surround them but the fresh cold air, and the shimmering expanses of snow, and ice. Lots and lots of ice.
"Kristoff, are we nearly there?" Anna whined, wishing they'd at least taken the sleigh, but Kristoff had been very insistent that they leave it behind.
He'd decided that it would be rough on the track, and that by foot it would be more fun.
"Yes, just hold on," he replied, smirking to himself, "we're almost there. Just over this little ledge..."
And as he said so, the two of them stopped and Anna gasped and stared out at the snow filled valley, a quaint little frozen lake towards the center, and trees and other frosted over plants decorated the ground in irregular rows.
"So," he asked, crossing his arms, "what do you think?"
Anna cast him a sideways glance and grinned, "You and your stupid, stupid ice!" she giggled, grabbing him by the arm and practically dragging him off to the crudely cut steps in the cliff face.
He couldn't help but smile and admire her as she excitedly bounced around and hopped down the steps, sometimes two at a time, ranting and raving about how beautiful it was, and how the lake would be so fun to skate on, and how they should have brought more things because she'd wished they could have planned to stay longer here than one night.
"We can't stay more than one, since your sister would probably freeze my heart. She's... oddly protective of you." Kristoff interjected.
Anna humphed and smirked, as they skidded to a halt, and then spun on her boots, "She wouldn't dare..." she retorted.
"Oh, and what makes you so sure?" Kristoff asked, half playfully and half seriously.
"I could be secretly out to get you, Anna," he continued, sneaking closer to her and pretending to 'capture her', grasping her up suddenly and holding her to his chest.
"Oh, shut up! You big teddy bear, you couldn't possibly do anything to me!" Anna giggled and wriggled herself around within his grasp, which he only tightened, laughing as she continued to pretend to resist.
"It's no use, princess," Kristoff joked, putting on his best 'Hans' voice and nuzzling his knuckles into the top of her head, "I've got you now!"
Anna yelped and then smashed her hand into his face, and then ducked down, and out of his loosened grip, grinning from ear to ear, a look of 'revenge-shall-be-mine' glinting in her eyes.
"I'll get you for that!" She cried out, and then scooped up some snow from the ground, but Kristoff was two steps ahead of her, as a wad of snow came flying from her left, hitting her square in the cheek, and Kristoff could be seen a good few meters away, running like the wind.
"Oh! It is ON!" she laughed.
This was sure to be a truly perfect day, Kristoff thought.
