A/N: Hello! Due to numerous requests, as well as my own intentions, I've written a companion to The Love of Scorpius. Chronologically, this comes a few months after it, but can be read separately. I hope you enjoy it!
Not Just Another Day
Scorpius and Rose walked silently down to the Black Lake – a tradition of theirs since 4th year. Rose was enjoying herself, not noticing that Scorpius' quietness was from his nerves.
He clutched a tiny box in the pocket of his robes. Tiny as it was, it felt as though it weighed a hundred pounds. Each step made it weigh more and more. He began to worry that he would lose it before they made it to their spot, even though it had constantly been in his sight since he bought it.
"Scorpius?"
"Huh?"
Rose had finally noticed how he was lagging slightly behind her. She turned to face him and smiled. Scorpius could see the unasked question in her eyes as she turned back around. He sighed and shuffled forward.
They reached their spot on the edge of the lake. It was almost in the Forbidden Forest - Scorpius remembered the first time he brought Rose down there. She'd protested adamantly, afraid that they'd be caught and get into trouble.
"You know what Professor McGonagall said at the beginning of first term! We aren't allowed here!" She had said, pleading desperately with Scorpius once she realized where they were headed.
"Relax" He had said with a smile. "Besides, we're technically on the Black Lake."
The spot was partially hidden behind trees, but had a great view of the lake. Rose had fallen in love with the spot and all of her protests had died instantly. They had been coming there since 4th year, when he had first asked her out. Now it was going to become even more special.
Scorpius led Rose to the branch they used as a bench. She quickly sat down and leaned back on Scorpius' chest and watched the peaceful lake, thankful for the distraction from N.E.W.T.S. Scorpius began to attempt to build up his nerve; he couldn't back down now, not after he'd told Al and Hugo. He began to fish around in his pocket, his fingers latching on to the small box as he stood up.
Rose sat up as he moved. "Are you all right?" She asked. "You seem a bit off today, just a bit more distant than usual."
He shook his head. "No, I'm fine. " He mumbled, standing up to face her. "Just getting ready to do this."
Scorpius pulled the tiny box from his pocket and knelt down in front of her. He looked up to Rose, whose expression of disbelief quickly melted into one of joy.
"I always thought asking you to the Yule Ball in our 4th year was the scariest thing I'd ever have to do. Then I had to tell my father I was going out with you. And I accidentally let my intentions… And I thought that was scary." He said with a grimace.
He took a shaky breath and met Rose's gaze. Her smile gave him the last bit of courage to get the last words out.
"Rose Weasley, will you do me the eternal honor of marrying me?"
