Take My Hand
"In solace I write
I hope you shall read
This confession of love
That my heart bleeds"
"My soul is bitter
But your smile is sweet
When your lavender eyes search for him
My heart is crushed in defeat"
"You are my cure
The antidote to the monster inside me
Nothing could ever curb this desire
But now the darkness recedes"
"This new emotion I feel
Is all because of you
My mind is at ease
But my heart is confused"
"The notion of love
Would escape me for all eternity
Unless your heart accepts"
"Hinata, my dove
I could show you the world"
"Just take my hand…"
Her hands trembled slightly, and her upper lip quivered. Paralysed to the spot, she waited for her heart to stop trying to choke her. Her fingers pressed gently into the paper, as fire ran rampant through her nerves.
The paper was plain and simple, yet the message imprinted upon it was quite the opposite. Never before had shy, saintly Hinata encountered such a form of affection, and never before had she imagined the effect such an encounter would trigger within her.
Slowly, quietly, she refolded the paper, and held it in her palm. Her name was written in a scratchy scrawl on the front, and although it may have been considered ugly to some, putting it away in her pocket was all she could do to prevent herself staring at it longer.
A raging heat was building up in her cheeks, so Hinata decided to isolate herself beside a small lake, deep in the forest surrounding Konoha. Sitting next to the water; watching the leaves float along the surface; the flames engulfing her body slipped away, and left her to question her heart.
"Hinata?"
She looked up, and was surprised to see someone sitting a few metres away. He stood up, and walked over to her.
His dark hair blew gently around his face, and ruffling his clothing slightly. His onyx eyes bore deep in hers, and she felt the flames flare back to life. Staring up at him, though, she felt entirely at peace.
Sasuke raised his hand slightly, so it hung between them.
"Hinata… Take my hand…"
Her heart accepted.
