A/N: This little oneshot is my reminder, I suppose, to keep writing this one story (entitled 'Maimed,' basically a what if. What if Morgoth had blinded Maedhros to make it impossible for him to see the sun and take hope from it after it first rose) As you could probably guess and get it right without me telling you, it's not yet done and it might never be done. So feel free to imagine the rest of the story however you please. But...if you like knowing how the author thought it out, don't read it because 'Maimed' isn't going to be finished in any up-coming years.
The faint sunlight doesn't even reach me through the dark mist. All is dark save for the torches below. The sun is still, but ever has she been able to reach me. No more. Morgoth has completely blocked out all light. He knows that I have taken hope from the newly raised sun and though he can't destroy it as he surely would like to, he can hide her from my sight. My only light now comes once again from the torches far below, heralding the movement of Morgoth's servants. I cannot tell if it is night or day, the darkness is eternal. Morgoth stands before me, as if he'd been there all along, even though a part of my crazed mind tells me that he wasn't there a moment before. Suddenly, there is pain and darkness. I open my mouth to scream, but no sound comes out. Morgoth's cruel laugh echoes in my ears and in my mind, I can picture his mocking face although darkness is all I can see no matter how hard I try. Suddenly, there is someone shaking me and a voice hissing my name. I jolt awake, but the darkness does not leave. I las out, trying to swipe it away. Someone grabs my arms and the voice is back, whispering words in my ears. "You are safe, Maitimo. You're free." I violently shake my head, now knowing the darkness will never leave. It will never leave, a reminder of my time spent chained away from the world and a reminder of burning hands, mocking voice and a laughing cruel face that will forever haunt my darkest nightmares.
