MirrorMask: A side story.

Crunch. Helena stepped on a piece of creased paper, flapping widly in the wind. She bent down in her rather grimy, white pjama's to pick it up.
" Hey Valentine, what's this?" she asked, beckoning him over.
He came to her and snatched the piece of paper out of her hands and staring at it. It was a map marking the way to a library. Obviously hand drawn and not very easy to understand. Valentine turned it upside down.
" I think it is...a face," he stared some more " Yes, most definitely a face," Helena sighed and took the paper back, turning it the right way up and shoving it back into his hands
" Look," Helena said " it's a map," and she pointed to a little square building marked on the paper, labelled in very fancy, curly writing as library. Valentine stubbornly turned it upside down.
" No," he battled " it's a face!"
He pointed at a macabre face neatly sketched on the paper. They turned it onto it's side and the face became a snippet of a poem. Helena frowned, rather irritated at the changing piece of paper. After many minutes of turning around the paper, holding it in different ways and looking at it from all angles, Helena and Valentine dismissed it and threw it into a pile of other screwed up pieces of paper.
" What a waste of time," Valentine stated picking at his nail.
Helena rubbed her face with her hand.
" Exactly, it was a time waster! I bet that's what the Dark queen wanted us to do!" she exclaimed unhappily. " C'mon Valentine, let's get a move on!"
The pair ran further down the mono-toned street to their next destination, unsure of the distractions that would occur.
