Monsters
Kakashi had spent his life running away from his monsters, the deaths of his precise people. First it was his father. He committed suicide after facing the ridicule for putting his comrades' lives over the succession of a mission. From that day forward, at age eight, Kakashi had vowed to always follow the ninja rules no matter what.
At age twelve he lost his friend. He and Obito were always fighting, but in the end they had become friends. Obito was killed on mission after going back for Rin and later saving Kakashi life, and in the process bestowing upon Kakashi his eye to replace the one that had been destroyed. After Obito's death Kakashi had vowed to break the ninja rules just like Obito had.
Later he lost Rin. She had loved Obito and had suffered greatly after his death. Their sensei had tried to help her but in the end it was useless. She too had committed suicide.
By this time Kakashi himself was starting to fall apart. His sensei and his love Kushina had helped him recover. They made him part of their family which he desperately craved since age eight.
By this time he was 16 and seemed to be a happy if not still slightly serious teenager. Kushina was pregnant and he was going to be a like a brother to the child. However the unthinkable happened and shattered all dreams and plans.
The Kyuubi attacked their village. That day Kushina gave birth to a healthy baby boy, but her life had left shortly after due to complications. His sensei then took the child and sealed the demon inside the newborn killing himself in the process.
Kakashi had been there for both their deaths and had the task of carrying the child back to the village. He gave the newborn to the third Hokage saying he wanted nothing to do with the child.
He viewed the child as a monster just like many of the adults but for different reasons. The others saw him as a monster because of the Kyuubi sealed inside him. Kakashi saw him as a monster because the child had stolen his last two precious people from him.
Kakashi began running away from his monster once again. He tried to recover and cope, and he managed too for the most part. Twelve years later he was forced to face his monsters once more.
Once more he had been handed the list of a possible genin team for him. He had yet to pass a team and he expected this year to be no different. He took a glance at the group and would have screamed if it had been in his character. It wasn't the Uchiha or the girl that made him want to rip the paper up, no it was the last one, Uzumaki Naruto. He tried to convince himself that it was no big deal that he would just fail this group like the last, but somehow he wasn't convinced.
It was time for the bell test. They hopeful genins just had to fail and then everything would be okay. The time passed by and Kakashi became more confident that they would fail. It was almost over, and he took joy in tying that monster up. He was almost home-free as long as they didn't figure out the key in the next couple of minutes. It was then that Uchiha Sasuke had figured out the key was teamwork. He had to pass them. He could fail them anyway, but a part of him just would let himself do that. Reluctantly he passed them.
Kakashi wanted to through a fit to the Hokage and demand that the team be given a different jounin-sensei, but he knew that wouldn't happen. Besides it wasn't like him to throw a fit.
As his team began to go on mission he began to stop hating the blond, instead he found himself caring for the boy. Somehow he knew this was his sensei's doing. In the end it made him feel guilty for leaving the child to fend for himself when he was a little. He was surprised the child even knew how to smile after all he had been through.
