Okay, so, this is entirely based on a inside joke at my school about a friend (Maria) who has the hugest crush on Percy Jackson. We called her on that, and this is the result. So if your reading this and going "What in the bloomin' ell.." IT'S OKAY. You may not get this. If you do- I accept you. Because you have the same twisted mind as me, and my friends.
Anyways- on to the story!
Maria's Curse (The missing 3.5 book!)
Today, I would be on my way back home. But I couldn't get my mind off Nico, and my stomach twisted inside with despair at the thought of Nico's words. Well, I could try my best to say comforting things to myself. It's not my fault, she sacrificed herself, but what good would it do? It was myself that Bianca di Angelo was dead. I should have tried harder.
In front of me the lake glinted and shimmered in the pale moons presence, a stray hippocampus poked it's nostril slightly out of the water ripples sent out and fading in all directions.
A swim could be good for me, helps to calm my nerves sometimes. But with these thoughts, I wasn't counting on anything. I dived into the water, and instantly I felt cooler and more collected. Things came at me slower. A school of fish raced past me, their scales glittering like a thousand diamonds.
My last bubbles escaped from my mouth drifted to the top. No matter how many times I swam, it was still weird breathing under water. Wait. My eyes flicked upwards to see a figure peering over me. Was someone.. spying on me? I kicked down, flinging myself upwards.
"Hello?" I called out, looking as something quickly backed up in the under bush of the forest lining the lake. I crawled out onto the deck attached to the cabin. "Uh, Helloo?" my hand casually drifted to my pocket which contained Riptide. At any point I was ready to uncap Riptide to face whoever was in the bushes. "No, no need for swords!" the voice whispered. he black figure wavered before coming out of the bushes. I could see her clearly was about my age and has black hair that curled in the oddest way, dark bronze skin, and a purple sweater.
"What where you doing hiding in the bushes?" I yelled out approaching her. Now that I remember, she was that one new girl who lived in the Hermes cabin. Maria, was it? "Your Maria, right?" I asked again as she looked down and kicked a chunk of snow with her shoe.
"Yeah.. I, uh, was just exploring the camp." she added quickly.
