She was at her post as usual, looking before her what she wished were different. She could have saved her kingdom some how, some way. If only she had just put the pieces together sooner and warned everyone. She pulled the Sheikah robe around her tighter and hid her face more. Impa was no longer to be found and could not help her this time.
Zelda dropped down in her chair and gazed out the window once more. What has happened? She asked herself that question every day. I've let everyone down. I was supposed to protect this land. And now it has been consumed by evil yet again.
The door opened with such force it sent Zelda's heart racing. She turned slightly only to have it skip a beat and race even faster than from the sound of the door.
"Zelda." By the time he had gotten her name out he was already in front of her. She rose to greet him, but then turned away.
"Zelda, everything is going to be fine. We'll get out of this, just like before. Trust me."
"I do. I do trust you." Tears began to form pools beneath her eyes.
"Then what are you afraid of? What is it that's terrifying you?" He turned her around to face him. She gazed up into his beautiful eyes. She could have gotten lost from reality if he were to stop talking.
"Zelda, put your faith in me. I would never let you down. I would rather die than do that. You drive me mad when you look at me like that." She smiled on the inside with satisfaction.
"I just want everything to be restored, like none of this ever happened. I should have been able to stop this from happening."
"No, you couldn't have. No one is perfect, Princess. Though you come pretty damn close." Link tugged at the Sheikah robe and it easily fell to the ground, revealing her traditional dress. With that one move, the room was lit up with Zelda's blonde hair, pale skin, and pink dress. He grabbed her and she fell against him with a cry. He placed a hand on the small of her back and the other brushed away the tears from her eyes, which were now burning with desire after his touch. Link responded immediately and crushed his mouth onto hers as if his life depended on it. He felt her hands curve around his neck and caress up into his hair. His green hat had now joined her robe as she sweeped her hands through his locks. Their kiss had turned into an embrace. Link's warmness had sent a wave of fire through her. He cupped her chin and tipped it up to have her look at him. They were a breath away.
"I will protect you." He sealed the promise by kissing the tip of her nose. She brought a hand up to his face and rubbed the back of her hand against his skin. Link seized it and brought his lips to each of her fingers. He found her eyes and stared into them intently.
"Kiss me, Zelda." She felt her cheeks and the tips of her ears burn red as she closed the small gap between them. Her eyes never left his as she brushed her lips against his with the lightest touch. Link could not have imagined anything sweeter. His mind had lost rationality as she drew back. She dragged her mouth along his jawline until she reached his ear.
"I believe you will be needing your own protection tonight," she murmured. She let out a laugh as he pinned her down on the floor in the pool of the Sheikah robe.
