Alliteration-The occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.
Why do authors use alliteration? It helps sentences to flow easily and it also draws attention to the particular adjective used and/or the subject/verb involved.
Assonance-In poetry, the repetition of the sound of a vowel or diphthong in none rhyming stressed syllables (e.g., penitence, reticence).
Repetition-The act or process or an instance of repeating or being repeated.
Figure of speech-language used in a figurative or nonliteral sense.
Personification-The attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman.
Simile-The comparison of something or someone using the words like or as.
Metaphor-The comparison of something or someone not using the words like or as.
