I don't own scrubs. By the way to all of my fans, because my chapter story is almost over there is a poll on my profile asking what type of new chapter story would you like to read. I would love it if you guys could take the poll.
Just another day at Scared Heart. Dr. Cox sighed, ever since Newbie left the normal 13 hour day seems so much longer. He shook the thoughts away, he couldn't get depressed now. He glanced at the clock ' 7 more hours left'. After that he could return home to his wife and away from these moronic interns. He counted the patient charts, he had ten. He felt his anger rise, but all he had to do was remember he was going home soon to calm himself down.
He walked to his first patient's room, they had terminal cancer and wouldn't make it through the week. He walked in the room and gave man a sympathized look. "I'm sorry Mr. Earns, you have cancer...there's nothing we can do." Dr. Cox said solemnly.
"May I have a moment alone?" the man in the bed asked.
Dr. Cox just nodded and walked out of the room to the other patients. He looked at the next chart. It was a woman who had been in an accident, she was pregnant and he had to tell her her baby was dead. Just the thought of this sent a cold chill down his spin. Ever since his wife got pregnant every miscarriage story that came into the hospital scared him. He entered the room slowly and glanced at the nerves couple. "The car accident caused a vein to rupture in the stomach, you're uterus filled with blood, the baby's dead. I'm sorry."
They both started crying, the woman seemed less hysterical though. "It seems weird, but I actually thought this would happen. After the accident the baby wouldn't kick. No matter what I said or how much I said or how much I talked it would just be still." she said starting at the blanket through tear filled eyes. She then broke down and cried into her husbands arms. Dr. Cox took that as his cue to leave.
He was half way to his next patients room when his pager went off. One of his patients were coding. He ran to the room and tried to resuscitation them, but nothing. He swore and threw the defibrillators to the ground in frustration. It seemed that he was surrounded by death all day today.
He a hand through his hair, he was finally off, but there was nothing to celebrate. He told 5 people they were going to die soon and had 3 people crashed. Nothing was going right today. He wasn't even sure if his wife would be able to do anything for him. He rubbed his neck as he slammed his car door shut and walked up the stairs to his apartment. All he wanted to do was relax after the hell filled day he had.
He walked to the his door and fished for the key. He unlocked the door and pulled it open then walked in slowly and closed the door behind him. He fell onto the couch and gave a heavy sigh.
"rough day, huh?" a voice from behind him asked softly. He did not need to turn around to know who it was.
"You have no idea." he sighed. He felt two hands on each side of his shoulder. They each started to rub up and down soothingly. Warmth moved through out his entire body and he felt a pregnant stomach on his back. He felt whole as she held on to him close. She kissed his temple and whispered in a hush voice.
"feel better, Honey?"
"yea, thanks, Newbie." he said sincerely.
"no prob" JD whispered as he rested his head on his husband shoulder. "Oh! The baby kicked, feel!" JD took hold of his hand and placed it on his belly. Perry smiled as he felt a small kick. That then reminded him.
"where's Jack?"
"He's sleeping." JD said looking at Jack's room.
Perry pulled his husband closer and cuddled on the couch, his hand still on the younger man's stomach. The hospital and work may be hell, but at least at home was a dream come true.
In case anyone doesn't get, remember Dr. Cox calls JD girl names and says he's a girl, that's why the whole top thing was talking about a her. Thanks for reading!
