A/n: I don't know what it is. What backstory is there. They just popped into my head, so here it is. Hope you like it!

Never in her life she would have thought that she was doomed to love. A professional spy, a trained assassin, an undeniable killer and a thief. It was all about her. Nobody could face her way, because everybody knew what was awaiting for them in the end. The only ones who tried to catch her were the S.H.I.E.L.D. The organization that, covering themselves with great expectations, was recruiting the same killers and thiefs. Nobody is perfect, and she got a chance to save herself.

She's angry at herself for her own weakness, but couldn't do anything about it. He promised her an ambrosial life, great glory and unending freedom. It was hard to handle yourself against these. And against his blue eyes. She was asking herself, why would she even look in them in the first place...

He didn't need help, but she helped. The instinct ordered her to do so and no other thing. She felt somewhere deep that she had already caught him, that he won't let go. How wrong she was.

The heart is inherented to make mistakes with great love. But, was it love, really? They stood somewhere in the dirty city alley — it didn't matter. For her one city was always similar to another. Only they mattered, only they were unique. A rejected god of trickery and a world-famous criminal.

"I need to come back."

"Where will you go?"

Her voice shattered — she's not afraid to show pain anymore. And anyway, in his eyes she saw her own reflection; maybe not that much and honest, but there was pain. His pain. He's scared. Funny.

"You better not to know."

"Of course."

She agreed. What else did she have to say? He didn't leave her a choice. He was a god, and she... what is she? Just a trained machine for murder without any feelings. Oh no, there were feelings, but he was planning on stealing them without regret.

"I'd like to come with you."

She said this without thinking and he froze in a second. His lips shrinked into a thin line. No, she was not afraid. If he wanted to kill her, he would have already. She was hurt. Just a little. She wanted to say: "Come back! Come back, when you conquer your world. Come back for me." But she perfectly knew what his answer would have been: "When I conquer my world, I will no longer need you."

She understood and came forward, hugging him. Strange, but he answered her. She didn't expect that. The god clasped his hands around and pushed her closer — a small body where the heart was still beating. Did he know that it will stop now?

"I will stay if that's what you want."

He slowly breathed out in her hair and squeezed harder in his hands. She could swear that his own heart is counting every beat, falling apart to the questions. Trying to find that one answer that will make her understand, maybe even forgive him.

"Yes. That's what I want."

He still held her, then turned around walking away. Without hurry, majestically, with the gait of Kings. She still stood and watched him leave, knowing that she will never see him again. It's hard to say goodbye for someone you love, even harder — for someone you don't. And with him, it was impossible.

She smiled through tears. He vanished, just like dew vanishes in the morning. He flew away in the world where there was no place for her.

Again, she made a mistake. Her heart didn't stop, the life didn't end. But somewhere, very deep inside, a small yearning was created. In a place nobody will ever find it.

Foolish, foolish god. A god of lie and trickery. You were twisted round her little finger yourself. You thought you were looking for forgiveness in the arms of a mortal woman. But you know what, god? She doesn't have anything to forgive you for...
