Fire works by Jenlinkitty
*Kenshin, nor any characters that pertain to the show/manga are mine...
I was browsing my folder one day and spotted a pic that inspired the story. enjoy! ^^*
~.----------------.~
That night seemed endless, a fireworks sparkled the sky. Many spectators filled the hills overlooking the wonderous sight. It was the Fourth of July, to some though, it was kind of odd to celebrate it in Japan, but it was celebrated by the Americans residing on the shores there. Most of the natives, though, enjoyed this celebration. It gave much eye candy in the sky.The night's celebration is being held in Tokyo. Crowds of many different ethnic groups came to see the fire in the sky, while some people played with small firecrackers in the streets.
Sitting crouched just outside the Kamiya Kasshin Dojo, Kenshin gazed into the lights of the small sparkler. Amazed that such pretty things could come out of fire... He looked up beside him to see Kaoru-dono... crouched across from him, amused by the small sparkler. Her face looked elegant in the flashes of the fireworks lighting up the sky behind them. She turned to him and smiled. The two gazed at each other for a minute before Kenshin blushed and turned his head back to the fading sparkler. She moved a little closer to him, and he blushed a little more. Kaoru giggled and looked into his eyes, the beatiful, dark lavender eyes. The light of the sparkler danced inside them. then, she too, blushed.
At that moment a jumping jack snapped in front of them; surprised, both of them fell back on their bums. A familiar voice laughed at their reactions. "Yahiko!" Kaoru got up and went to chase the little trouble maker. Kenshin lightly giggled as she went to nail Yahiko on the head. All of a sudden Kaoru tripped over a loose cobblestone in the street. As she fell, a pair of arms wrapped around her torso to halt her descent to the paved ground. She looked up to see Kenshin bearing a worried look on his face. She could feel her cheeks hotten. He helped her back to her feet, "Daijoubu ka?" his concern was genuine, she could see...
Brushing off her kimono, looking to him, she merely replied, "Hai. Heh, just tripped..., uh, Arigatou gozaimashta.." she smiled, the blush wasn't fading from her cheeks. Gazing into his eyes she found herself in an inescapable trance, Kenshin seemed to be in the same trance. His hand slowly entwined itself with Kaoru-dono's. This moment seemed to last forever, the two lovers were floating in a bliss of peace as their eyes never strayed from each other's. "Lovely..." he murmmured his cheeks were the same shade as Kaoru-dono's.
Kenshin unconsiously moved closer to her, his eyes closed as he moved his lips closer to hers. She felt her eyes close as well and she also, unconsiously, began to edge forward. As their lips brushed each others, a very large boom sounded loudly in the background. Surprised at what they were doing, they both jerked back. They looked up to see golden sparkles raining down on the town.
Kaoru never took her eyes off of the spectacle as she moved closer to him. Kenshin gave no resistance to her movement, but more-so invited her into a shoulder hug while she held onto his waist. Nothing could ruin the moment now.
Later that night...
Giant blooms of flowering fire exploded in the sky as the last of the fireworks sparkled through the night. As the festival draws to a close we find that though the night has ended, love never does. It's kind-of amazing what a little spectacle can do...
