I sat on the beach watching the sun set, digging my bare toes into the sand. I liked to think of the beach as "My Place." I felt like I could go there whenever I was sad or lonely. It was just comforting to hear the gentle rhythm of the waves crashing against the sand, the cool breeze coming off of the water, and the sound of the seagulls flying overhead.
I laid down on my towel, trying to soak up the last rays of sunlight before darkness hit. It was a good place to just lay there and think. It was so tranquil and relaxing I could just sit there for hours and think about everything happening in my life.
Tonight was different. The usual sounds were no longer there and everything was silent. It seemed to reflect my mood. Everything here was too heartbroken to do anything but sit there.
I looked out and watched the waves coming closer and closer to where I was sitting, I wished it could just swallow me and take away all of my pain.
As I was thinking I swear that I heard him calling my name. It sounded like his voice was in the wind, as if he was calling to me from heaven. I looked up at the sky and could almost see his face in the clouds.
I mouthed the words, "I love you," up into the sky. I was unable to talk I was crying so hard.
I looked down at the small diamond ring on my finger. Five years. We'd been married for five years and now that was just taken away from me.
If only he hadn't tried to go against Voldemort, if only he would've been more careful, if only he hadn't joined him in the first place.
I took the ring off of my finger and threw it as hard as I could into the water. Now the ring from the person I loved was at the place I loved.
I was tempted to go and retrieve it a few times but I restrained myself. It wasn't worth it.
I was still crying and I knew there was no way I could ever go on like this. My grief was too great and my heart ached to be with him again.
I realized that there was only one way that we could ever be together again. I rolled up the legs on my jeans and waded into the water. When the water was up to my waist I looked up at the sky one more time.
"I will always love you Draco Malfoy. I can't live another day if you're not with me."
I continued walking farther and farther into the water. I wasn't nervous, I just felt like this was something I had to do.
I looked up at the sky once more then back at the beach.
"Goodbye," I mouthed before putting my head underwater and breathing in deeply. I could feel the cold water filling my lungs and I knew that I would soon be with my husband forever.
