Prompt: Hurt
He'd hurt her after Ruben's murder. He'd locked himself away and pushed her out of his life. For a while, he wondered if they would even make it through together, but they did…and he learned that they were stronger than just about anything as long as they were together.
She'd learned that at the murder trial, when he'd come in and she'd had the strength to go on, it took him nearly a year longer to get it, but as his wife said he was always hardheaded.
All that had happened, all the hurt and pain was worth it because now he was sitting here, watching his wife and his two daughters run around the park.
"Daddy," Ella called as ran over to him, her tiny legs pumping fast to reach him. He leaned down to grab her, swinging her up into his arms.
"Ella-bear," he said as he rocked her up and down, "Are you having fun playing?"
Ella nodded her head frantically, "But you have to play too, Daddy. We can't have teams with three, we'll be uneven."
Danny smiled at his little girl, so beautiful, so smart, "Well we can't have that. Let's go kick Mommy and Beth's booties at kickball."
Ella threw her hands up happily, and chanted, "We're going to kick your booties," as she got closer to Lindsay and Beth.
Bet stuck her tongue out, "That's what you think."
Danny laughed as the two girls began playing, yelling at him and Lindsay to catch up.
No, he wouldn't trade this for the world.
