Yusuke gave an exasperated sigh before beginning to pound on the door some more.
"Come on Kuwabara! I said I was sorry, okay! Man, what's your problem! Get out here NOW"
And still after ten minutes the door had not opened. It had not so much as wavered, or winced (which most things did under the fist of Yusuke Urameshi, spirit detective).
Yusuke gave one more frustrated sigh before he began to make mistake number one. Well, actually if he thought about it mistake number one was making Kuwabara angry. This was actually mistake number two - picking Kuwabara's lock.
And surprisingly Yusuke made short work of it. The lock - not Kuwabara's temper. That was already short - concerning Yusuke anyway.
A swearing and a cussing the lock finally popped and the door swung open. Inside all was dark. Yusuke's mouth of dirty words was elevated (or should I say sunk?) to a whole new level. All that and Kuwabara wasn't even there! Fine, if he couldn't go to Kuwabara, then Kuwabara was going come to him? wait, that didn't make sense. Oh well.
Yusuke made his way to Kuwabara's room. Stomping and gritting his teeth. He opened the door to Kuwabara's room to go wait inside and came face to face with a stark naked dripping wet Kuwabara.
Said Kuwabara quickly gave a surprised yelp before Yusuke found the door slammed in his face. Yusuke turned red.
After another ten minutes of being shock shell still Yusuke gathered courage. He cleared his throat and knocked softly. No answer. Finished with gathering courage Yusuke gathered anger.
A few yells and knocks to the door (poor door) later the door opened softly. Kuwabara gave Yusuke a small sheepish apologetic grin. He was wearing a bath robe.
Yusuke was guessing Kuwabara wasn't angry at him anymore.
"Hey, Kuwabara. So...uh, why didn't you answer the door"
No answer.
"Don't ignore me! I said I was sorry or didn't you hear"
Kuwabara was watching Yusuke with a confused expression.
Kuwabara opened his mouth to answer Yusuke. Yusuke waited. Kuwabara's mouth snapped shut.
"yusuke..."
Said so quiet and soft Yusuke could almost not believe it came from Kuwabara. After all Kuwabara never said his first name. And the more Yusuke thought about that the more he realized that Kuwabara had probably not meant to say that.
"uh...yeah, Kuwabara"
No answer. Kuwabara stared blankly. Finally it looked as if Kuwabara remembered something, and whatever he remembered gave him a nice pink tinge in his cheeks. He reached over onto his night table and pulled out a pad of paper and a pen.
After a minute of hasty scribbles Kuwabara handed Yusuke the pad of paper. His handwriting messy.
'Sorry Urameshi can't hear'
Yusuke at first looked skeptical, then he hastily scribbled down a reply.
'why?'
He promptly got an answer.
'because of your stupid joke'
Yusuke looked sheepish.
"oh, sorry..." he trailed off as he realized Kuwabara couldn't hear him anyway.
He was going to write it down, but didn't (in written form it could be used against him). Besides Kuwabara seemed to understand.
Yusuke felt bad. He felt guilty. Kuwabara was deaf. Hopefully only temporarily. And Kuwabara was wet. He probably had to take a shower after he got drenched like that...Yusuke was actually surprised that Kuwabara managed to get all the paint off. Anyway, it's not like Yusuke knew that the horn thing would make Kuwabara go deaf. I guess bleeding ears truly are a sign on oncoming temporary deafness. Yes, Yusuke felt bad. That was a first.
Yusuke felt his guilt grow as Kuwabara gave him a soft smile. Yusuke gave a weak one back.
He'd have to make it up to him.
