Everyone who knows me on Fanfiction, and in real life, knows that Doreen is my favorite USM character. Well, I finally decided to give her, her own stand-alone story, the first USM story where she is the main focus. I know I put up a poll asking everyone when they wanted to see this, and three people said they would let me decide, and with the advice of my Girlfriend, and another friend, I decided to put this out sooner than expected, Don't worry, though. This story has a really good plot, one that will test her to her limits, and beyond. Don't worry though, Predator will still be my main focus until "Death of the Predator" is completed. Hope you enjoy, please tell me what you think, I welcome all criticism, good and bad.

-Chapter 1-

"Attention, everyone. We are beginning our descent into LAX, so please fasten your seat-belts at this time," the voice came over the planes PA system. Everyone fastened their seat-belts, including one civilian-attire-wearing heroine who was in attendance.

(Almost home, after so long,) Doreen thought to herself as she sat in her seat, and she nervously began twirling her hair. After her graduation from the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, Doreen had faced a rather tough choice: stay in New York, or return home to Los Angeles. Even though the choice to be close to her parents seemed like an obvious choice, she actually had considered staying in New York so she could be close to her former teammates. However, she had eventually decided to return home and live with her parents, at least temporarily until she could get an apartment. Doreen exited the terminal and began walking towards the arrivals gate, where she instantly saw a sign that read "Doreen Green". This made her smile as she swiftly walked up to her parents and gave her mother Maureen a big hug. Her father, Dor, wrapped them both up. "Welcome home," her mother said in a loving tone.

"It's good to be back in California. I can't wait to see what's changed, and what hasn't," Doreen said.

"You're in for a surprise, but first things first. Let's get something to eat," her father said as they began walking towards the terminal exit.

"Is Moon Mountain still open?" Doreen asked as she remembered some of the family memories of eating at the family restaurant.

"I had a feeling you'd ask that," her father said with a small laugh. "Yes it's still open, and that's where we are going. They added a new animatronic wolf as the lead singer, plus they hired a new chef, and his food, especially the pecan pie, is beyond compare." her father said, which made Doreen's mouth water. She loved pecan pie.

"I haven't had pecan pie since thanksgiving at the Academy, and while it was good, it wasn't the best. I'm ready for a great meal," Doreen said happily as they approached the family car.

"Welcome to Moon Mountain. I'm Nate, and I'll be your waiter tonight," Nate said as he took out a note pad and prepared to take the family's order.

"I'd like a cheeseburger, and fries, please," Doreen requested.

"Sure thing, and how would you like it cooked?" Nate asked as he wrote down the order.

"Medium rare, please," Doreen requested.

"Alright, then. I'll give the order straight to the chef," Nate said as he walked away towards the kitchen, leaving the family sitting there in their spot next to the stage, where the show was about to begin. An animatronic wolf named White Fang came on stage and began singing 'Firework', to which Doreen was bobbing her head to.

"Mr. Green, it's good to see you again," A loud male voice said from behind them, and they turned to see the restaurant's owner, Jack Long.

"Good to see you, Jack," Doreen's father said as he shook the owner's hand. "You remember my daughter Doreen?" he asked the owner.

"Course I do. I remember all faces around here. Then again, you've been bringing her here since she was four, so of course I'd remember," Jack said with a smile on his bearded face.

"Nice to see you, Mr. Long," Doreen said with a smile as she reached out her hand for a handshake, which Jake took in a firm grip that Doreen barely felt due to her enhanced strength.

"What a grip," Jack said with a big laugh, as Nate returned with Doreen's burger and placed it right in front of her. Suddenly, Jack's two young children came running out from a side room. Doreen noticed that Jack's daughter was wearing a shirt that had her alter ego, Squirrel Girl, on it.

"You like Squirrel Girl?" Doreen asked Jack's daughter, which caused his daughter to giggle in a shy tone.

"It's okay, Millie. You can answer." Jack said, comforting his shy daughter.

"Yes, I really like Squirrel Girl. I've liked her since I saw her on the TV in New York," Millie said in between giggles, and Doreen couldn't help but smile as she thought about her tail, which was tucked into her jeans at the moment. She couldn't help but wonder how this little girl would react if she found out that normal Doreen Green was actually Squirrel Girl.

"I like her, too. She's awesome," Doreen said with a smile as she gave Millie a high five, to which Doreen's parent's exchanged a grin, which went unnoticed by Jack and his children.

"That was an awesome meal. Was that the surprise?" Doreen asked as they arrived back at home and got out of the car.

"That was part one. Part two is waiting inside," Doreen's mother said as they walked inside, "Check the guest room," she added as Doreen practicably ran to the guest room and opened the door, similar to how a child would react on Christmas day. She found the guest room was filled with exercise equipment. "You gave me a private gym?" Doreen asked.

"Yeah. If you're going to resume your hero life, you've got to stay in shape," Doreen's father said with a smile, which caused Doreen to hug her parents.

"Thank you so much. I will use this every day," Doreen promised as she walked in and picked up a pair of five pound weights and began working out with them. (Life is perfect,) Doreen thought to herself as she smiled. She was happily home. However, life does not remain perfect for very long, as she was about to find out.
