I don't know how this entered my head it just did.

Just gonna say this... Al has his body and Ed still has alchemy, and Al doesn't need a circle.

My eyes flutter open I look up to see my brother...

... with a sword through his chest.

He grunts, and falls forward. The person holding the sword has let go and he lands next to me on the ground.

"Al..." He whispers

"Ed!" I sit over him, not sure how to help.

"I'm.. really sorry... Al... but it looks like... *coughs* your living on... alone..." He tires to smile through the blood covering his face.

"No Ed... we're going to stay together... we worked so hard... You can't die now!"

"Just... tell Winry..."

The light in his eyes is fading.

"Ed! Ed! Stay with me, come on! Please!" Tears are running down my face now, clearing away some of the dirt and blood caking my face.

"You deserve it more... but I'm seeing Mom first... sorry."

His eyes close and he exhales deeply, as if putting himself at peace.

"I love you Al..."

I know he won't speak again.

"I love you too Ed..."

I clap my hands, and face the man who did this, the man who killed my brother.

He doesn't know how lucky he is that we swore not to kill, he's so lucky he's only ending up in a cage, hell the firing squad would be better than what I would do to him.

I stand over a grave.

Why? Why does Truth insist on punishing us for everything?

Winry is standing to my left. Tears run down her face, she hasn't stopped.

"You know what Winry?"

"What Al?" The sobs threatening to drown out her voice all together.

"Somewhere, in the back of my head, I'm trying to remember the formula for human transmutation."
