There's a crossover with Captain America, but if you don't know anything about that, it won't make any difference. Based off of this tumblr post. destispell. tumblr post/ 88388067211/ imagine-an-american-going-to-hogwarts-determined
Enjoy!
Steve did his best to focus on his happy memory, but seeing as he didn't seem to be able to find one, it was proving a problem. "Expecto patronum!" he said loudly, his voice barely heard amongst the dozen others in the classroom. Nothing happened, again. The seventh year sat back down at his desk, rubbing at his eyes as he tried to think of something. He was sifting through his childhood memories when he latched onto something that made him smile. James.
James had been his best friend all through elementary school before he'd gotten the letter. He'd been excited about magic and had told his friend in his excitement. Then the teacher came, telling him that he couldn't go to Salem Academy because of overcrowding. Hogwarts, though, was happy to take him. Steve had never been interested in travelling and spending the next seven years of his life in Scotland was intimidating to say the least.
And being away from his best friend was hard too. He'd sent letters—up until just a few months before when James had gone off to war and had stopped receiving the owls. Other than those letters though, Steve had cut himself off from everything American that he could. He didn't want to be teased.
He'd tried to adapt to a British accent, done his best to avoid stereotypes and be accepting. He'd tried to fit in.
His mind drifted back to James. James who was off fighting in the war. He was putting his life in danger, but he was doing it to keep other people safe. And Steve wished more than anything that he could join his best friend in the fight against Germany and Japan. Because it was the right thing to do.
A determination came over scrawny young Steve. He was going to join the war effort. Just as soon as he learned as much as he could so he could be helpful. He was going to find James and join him in doing what was right.
A smile spreading across his face, Steve stood up again, completed the wand movements, and said the incantation. "Expecto patronum!" Out of his wand flew a majestic bald eagle. He stared at it, watching it soar around the classroom for several long moments before slumping back into his seat and groaning. All those years of trying to avoid American stereotypes and now his patronus was a bald eagle!? He was doomed. In a matter of hours, everyone in school would know and they would all start up on the American kid jokes he'd endured in his first and second years. All that work for nothing.
It was a good thing that he'd found that happy thought to help him through.
Learn everything there was to learn, find James Barnes, and join the fight. That's what he fad to focus on.
