For one whole summer I was denied the chance to taste the deliciousness of mint chocolate chip ice cream. I have heard from all of my friends that it is one of the most delicious flavors on the island. I live right next to the ice cream shop so I watch as people buy every kind of ice cream flavor there is.

Now the reason why I couldn't eat my single scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream was because of some really strange happenings. The first time I lost my chance was when I was spending some time with my friends on the beach. They had bought some ice cream and I knew that this was my chance to try it.

After I bought a single scoop I walked back to my friends. To my surprise a little girl stopped me and took my picture. She was quick when she did it so I thought nothing of it. But when I turned my attention to the cone I noticed that the scoop of ice cream had fallen to its sandy doom. Sighing I ate the sugar cone and spent the rest of my time with my friends. Not even thinking about going back and buying another.

It wasn't til about a week later when I found my next chance. This time I was alone on the beach minding my own business. I had decided to bring a small cd player and listen to music. The cone was in my hand when I saw a giant red blur heading my way. If someone were to ask me to this day what it was, I still wouldn't be able to tell you. However, I can tell you one thing, I felt the red blur hit the hand that was holding my poor ice cream cone. Instead of looking at the damage it did to the cone I let my hand fall and stared out into the ocean.

Things were looking pretty bleak to me. I have been denied the luxury of this ice cream flavor. I decided about three days later that I would try to eat it one more time. And if something happened to the ice cream I wouldn't try again. So I went out and bought a tub of it, if I liked it I could have more later.

I brought the tub to my kitchen and searched for my sugar cones. Taking out a large ice cream scooper I got myself a scoop so round it would rival any professional's. Ever so carefully I placed it on top of my cone. I took a second to marvel at the sight. I was finally getting to taste mint chocolate chip ice cream!

Sticking my tongue out I took a small lick of the ice cream.

It was one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted! The mint was very cool on my tongue it even enhanced the coldness of the ice cream itself. Smelling it felt colder than normal too. I took another bite and was pleased to find that I had bitten into one of the chocolate chips. To me, the mixture reminded me of my favorite Girl Scout cookies. The little girls that sell me the cookies know that I will always buy thin mints from them. Every second of eating my cone was perfect. No one was here to ruin my moment with this delicious cone.

I smiled one that was of content and finished my ice cream cone. Feeling accomplished I walked out of my house and onto my deck. The sun was just rising and I smiled, today was going to be a great day.
