Title: One of Us
Pairings: None really… though I guess it's slight Arumat/Meracle if you squint?
Summary: She just wanted to make him feel welcome.
I do not own SO:TLH or any of the characters. I just use them to rid myself of boredom.

Meracle peeped her head into the room, happy to find that Arumat was just where she predicted. He swung his large scythe around, completely unaware of the little cat in the doorway. She spoke up, her voice interrupting his practice.
"You know, you don't smell like blood anymore."
Arumat stopped, mid-swing, when he heard the young girl's voice. Turning around with a rather confused expression on his face, he asked, "What was that?"
Smiling and walking up to him, Meracle repeated, "I said, you don't smell like blood anymore."
Meracle was one surprise after another. First, she hugged him, second, she tried to sneak into his bed (it was a bad habit of hers), and now she's telling him how he smells? He shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to reply.
The cat girl giggled and continued, "But now you smell like one of us! "
"What is that supposed to mean?" He glared, not exactly pleased with her reply.
"Well, duh, it means that you're our friend now." She added a smile at the end.
"Don't group me with anyone. I'm only here until Faize returns to his position," he replied, his voice flat and not amused. And what exactly did everyone else smell like? For all he knew, she could have insulted him. This annoyed him even more.
Another giggle. "But you're our friend now! Aren't you happy?"
With a sigh, he turned around and resumed practicing his fighting style. "No. Now leave."
She trotted up behind him and said, "Well, I am," then hopped up and planted a tiny kiss, though it was more of a nuzzle, on his cheek. Before he could turn around and react violently, she quickly absconded through the sliding door, grinning the whole way.
Arumat swung around, with scythe and all, but the girl was already out of his reach by the time he realized what she had just done. With another sigh, he lowered the scythe and murmured to himself, "Everyone on this ship is strange."

Um… I'm not sure what the point of this story was, but I like how Meracle and Arumat interact, so I just wrote whatever came to my mind.
As short as this was, it seriously took hours to write. I hope it's decent. Reviews always appreciated.
