A:N – Hi :D I haven't written any FanFiction in a while and I love the Sims 3, so I decided to randomly write this ^_~ Some aspects may differ from the main game just to make it sound more like real life, but with things from Sims in… If you get what I mean. Thanks for reading!
I arrived in Appaloosa Plains hot and flustered from the journey there. It was the height of summer and I preferred the cold: Sunset Valley (the town I had travelled from) was also a long way away. My parents, who always had a tendency to spoil me, had left me with plenty of money to help me settle in, but they had stayed in Sunset Valley and were too far away to offer me any other kind of support. I could call them on my mobile, but I would get the tone of their voice and not their facial expression, and therefore only half of the conversation.
The burly men unloading the lorry I had travelled in were almost done now, and one was even revving his engine ready to go, a tell-tale sign of agitation. The other, however, saw the panic stricken look on my face and came over to console me.
"Look, I know it can be daunting moving into a new town, especially by yourself. But we've all had to do it, and found what life has to offer along the way – friendship, family and perhaps even love. Appaloosa Plains is a lovely place, and you can never get lonely either. There are plenty of pets to keep you company in the Animal Shelter across the road."
I averted my eyes from the intensity of his gaze and focused them of the glowing lights of the Animal Shelter opposite us. I could hear the faint noise of a key turning in a lock, and guessed that they were shutting: in the dusk the whole sleepy town seemed to be going to bed.
"Thank you Sir." I smiled at him gratefully, acknowledging my appreciation of such a kind, if a little cheesy, welcome. He looked bashful and I could see the heat of embarrassment flare up on his cheeks. We held eye contact for a brief second, but I broke the connection when his eyes seemed to be lingering on me for a little too long. I had tactfully ignored his 'hints' until now, and dismissed his romantic advances towards me. I don't think he realised how young I really was, surely he would have been able to tell from the fading acne on my cheeks, and noticing his greying stubble and creasing across his forehead I came to the conclusion that he'd forgotten what it felt like to be young, and naïve in the world of romance. I'd had no experience of it, and really wasn't sure how to react.
He sidled off to his fellow driver, who was waiting impatiently in the lorry and tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, ready to drive off. "Stop flirting, you scared her," was all I caught of their conversation before the window was wound up and they drove off together.
I scuttled inside then, slightly taken aback by the experience. It had put me off the town a little, but I came to realise that he had meant well and had not intended to cause me embarrassment. But I wasn't looking for serious love yet – only a friend that could provide me with some company in this lonely, sleepy town.
Which was why I decided to take one of the only valuable pieces of advice that the Lorry Driver had given me, and visit the animal shelter. There was no time to ring my parents that night: I felt like a child again, because I was helpless in a new place and suddenly getting overexcited over the prospect of getting a new pet.
A:N – Hope you enjoyed, reviews make my day. ^_~ It will get more exciting xD
