Black Coffee

A hint of cologne filled her nostrils. Musky and sweet amid the scents of coffee and copy paper. His lips were moving, slowly. A tongue flickered out to lick his chapped lips. The saliva made them glisten slightly. The lips stopped moving and white pearly teeth were revealed. A smile. They moved again. Quick. And, again. His grin widened.

"Miss Grey?" She heard it this time and gazed up into the cobalt amused eyes. A eyebrow quirked. "My dear, did you hear anything I said?"

She nodded, "Yes, Mr. Masters. I-I'm sorry. I didn't get much sleep last night…" She straightened in the chair across from his wooden desk. He sat in a black cushioned office chair. He was holding a silver pen in between his long fingers. The pen was placed on the desk beside a stack of papers that needed officiating.

He nodded. "It's a privilege to be my intern." He leaned forward and crossed his fingers on the desk. He eyed her down. The narcissistic bastard hated any interruptions.

"I know," She felt heat in her cheeks. "I'm sorry sir." Her head lowered to the reprieve.

Vlad had taken Valerie on as an apprentice/intern. With the knowledge that she wasn't quite made for desk work, it was a good way to keep an eye on her. During the day, after classes, she would be his intern and at night, she would hunt ghosts for him. For her benefit, she'd be able to earn extra income and take out her frustrations. It was a good exchange. Well, it beat her job at the Nasty Burger. As the Mayor of Amity Park, it looked good hiring student interns as well. "Why were you restless?" A human approach for once.

Valerie looked up with a puzzled expression. Vlad never asked her about her personal life. He knew all her needed to know. She hesitated before answering. "I was worried about school stuff." It was true. Her GPA was taking a hit. Not because of her jobs, but because of chemistry. It was brutal. She wondered if she should tell him that, but decided against it.

"Do you need a tutor?" He asked. So nonchalant. Like many men, Vlad wanted to fix the issue and be done with it all. "I can arrange for one." He picked up his phone.

Her eyes widened. "No! I mean, thank you, but you already do so much for me Mr. Masters. I couldn't afford that right now." The heat returned. He was being different today. Usually, he didn't ask questions, stayed out of her business and made small talk. After work, he gave her an assignment, in a folder, and was off.

He smirked. "No one asked if you could afford it." That's right. Daddy Ghostbucks. "Do you need a tutor?" He repeated. Valerie nodded. "What subject? Don't tell me math." He prodded.

"It's chemistry, sir." She admitted.

Vlad nodded. "I made straight A's in that one too. It's not the easiest, but once you read the book, things become easier to understand." He unlocked his phone and began scrolling through. Once he found the number, he sent a text and put the phone away. "Done. Now, back to what I was saying…"

He began to talk about politics, filing and notes that she should probably take down. She listened closely this 's sudden concern confused her and she wanted to make sure that it did not happen again. He leaned back in his chair and prattled on about things that actually concerned his job. When the man was given a task, he followed through.
