My Hero

She couldn't help it; it just came shrieking out of her. She had always prided herself at being a tough chick, not afraid of many things, but this, well this was too much. The sound of glass smashing could be heard coming from the kitchen as a result of Dean dropping the beer bottles he had just left her alone to retrieve from the refrigerator. He came sprinting around the corner, already armed with his gun to see what had made her scream like that. His eyes were full of dread, the fear he felt in his gut upon hearing her scream like that petrified him as to what he was about to face. She was up on the bed, their bed; the same bed they had spent the last few days hiding away from the world in, pretending the inevitable wasn't going to happen. Imagining what it would be like if Dean didn't have to leave, again. Like he always had to.

"Baby what the damn hell!" Dean groaned. Putting his gun away, he felt the knot forming in his stomach loosen. Her face was scrunched up as she was visibly shuddering with disgust, whilst pointing at the cause of her scream. "You nearly scared me half to death, I thought, well I don't know what I thought, but this –really?"
"Please get rid of it Dean!" She cried.

He honestly could not believe all the commotion had been over a spider. The things she had seen since being with him, the stories he had told her, and yet this, this was what reduced her a quivering mess. However, he was glad it had just been a spider. As he picked up the little monster and threw him out of the window, he reminded himself that it could have been a lot worst. Being with him was a risk. He wasn't ok with this, but she was and boy could she be persuasive. He looked up at her still cowering on the bed and laughed.

"Is it definitely gone?"
"Yes you big baby, now get down!" Dean sat on the edge of the bed pulling her back down and into his arms.
"My hero." She giggled before kissing him on the cheek. "I'm going to miss you."
"I know. But I will be back, I'll always come back."
"And I will always be waiting."
