Lost Memories
What is history but remembrance? But some people, Hatori knew, do not remember.
He does though.
He remembers everything. He remembers the memories he stole from little children, the thoughts he wrenched from his loved one's mind, and the smile of a girl untouched by sorrow.
Untouched? She was immersed in sorrow, in pain and pasts and what-might-have-been's. All around her were broken people playing with broken toys, and she took them all in and gave them herself: living and loving and joy. She embraced everyone and set to work filling their wounds with her love, until they were tied to her as surely as a man is tied to his mind.
She made history when she made Kyou smile. She created documents when she brought a slight blush to Shigure's cheeks. She changed the world when she touched his heart.
But she does not remember it, not a word. Her memories have been squirreled away in his mind, and the gap filled with thoughts of imaginary deeds. She doesn't remember a single moment of her magic.
He does though.
And that is enough.
