The stars seemed to go on forever, at least that's how it seemed to Farder Coram as he lay
in the grass looking upward. He had wandered to the edge of the woods and the only light
besides the moon and stars was his lantern which formed a small circle of warm yellow light
to contrast the cold silvery blue light emanating from the moon and stars. Aside from the sounds
of crickets and the occasional owl, it was as if everything had been muted. At the edge of his line
of vision there was a circle of light from a collection of small, one might say Liliputian, buildings.
Coram looked back up so as to still see the light but to be focused on the skies pierced by the tips
of evergreens. Early that morning he had pitched his tent and all morning, afternoon, and
evening he had passively and quietly observed the changing of how sun and shade were
arranged, which places were captured in sunlight and which in shadow. All that he had brought
was a sleeping bag, a lantern, and a sketchbook with a few pencils. He had done sketches of
flora, fauna, and landscape and had a lunch under a tree in the dappled light. Now here he
was bathed in moonlight surrounded by pure impenetrable darkness. Coram finally decided to
go into his tent for the night; zipping the door and hanging the lantern from the ceiling. After
nodding off for a while, he was woken up by faint breathing from above, which was strange
since his hearing wasn't exceptionally keen and he doubted that even most people would have
been able to hear something so delicate. He managed to pull himself up, take his lantern, put his
glasses on, and unzip the tent. Outside it was dawn and the sky was a mix of pink and orange.
When Coram looked up and noticed Sarafina Peckala in a tree, he tried to hide inside the tent
for she was identical to how she was when they had first met, which was more than could be
said for him. However, he couldn't resist when she reached out and placed a light finger on his
palm and said "you must not fear to reveal yourself, wise one, love knows no boundaries."
