Please don't kill me, but this is a ship I wanted to explore, so I took the initiative and did so in my Algebra class. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, though it is a rather pathetic one-shot.

Ray twirled Bobby's car keys around his finger as he thanked Bobby mentally for the hundredth time in the last five minutes for being his friend enough to let him borrow his car, not that it was that much of a loan. The car was junk.

He opened the door to the garage as his ears were immediately assaulted with the sounds of crying, her crying. He looked for a moment and it didn't take long for him to find her. Curled up in the backseat of her beloved SUV, blissfully unaware that the windows were open for all to hear, Jean Grey sat in tears.

Forgetting about Bobby, his car, and the greasy food he had been craving, Ray opened the driver's door of her car, snatched her purse, and dug around for her keys. When he found them, he turned the car on and shut the windows. Jean never noticed him. Typical.

He then exited the car, only to re-enter it, this time in the backseat. He took the older girl into his arms and held her. She was startled at first, but relaxed when she realized it was a friend.

Ray didn't need to ask. He knew why she was crying. Duncan he left her for Taryn and Scott had begun dating one of the stupid preppies in the glee club. He knew she felt no one could love her, but perhaps it wasn't the best time to bring up the crush he'd had on her since they'd met.

She gripped his shirt in her fist, probably permanently ruining the neckline as she stretched, but he didn't stop her. He ran his hand over her soft red hair and rubbed small circles into her back. From the watch on his wrist, the minutes kept ticking by and ten minutes later, her sobs were sniffles.

She looked up at him, her green eyes shining, "Why are you here?"

"I thought you would need someone."

"Why you?" she asked, brushing her hair out of her face. "You could have just left. Why you?"

Ray shook his head, "I don't think that's important right now. How do you feel?"

"Better. Thanks," she kissed his cheek and got out of the car, leaving him smiling in the backseat of her car.

Yeah, pathetic. Please review and DON'T FOLLOW THIS STORY! It will NOT be updated with more chapters. Thanks!
