There was no dawn. Eternal night and darkness threatened and loomed overhead. There were no stars. There was no moon. No sun. No clouds. The world had responded heavily. Matching her inhabitants, the Earth had transformed her days. Never more would the sun shine and the stars sparkle. Never more would the colours of dawn and dusk spread across the twilight sky. Never more would there be twilight.
The end had begun suddenly. Just the wave of a wand and the mutter of a voice, the phrase crystal clear. As he fell, the light dimmed, and all creatures seemed to cry out in anguish as the sun fell from its midday perch, and disappeared forever behind the low hill on the horizon.
Then all was still. All was still as everyone stopped fighting. Those on His side turned to him, triumphant, jubilant. Those on our side turned to each other, devastated, terrified. Many apparated away, to safe houses set up should our task have failed. We remained, to heart broken and battle weary to summon the power to move. We were easy targets, and taken prisoner without resistance.
The dungeons they took us too, and forced us into, were not fit for a mouse, let alone fifteen human beings. We were crammed together, no food and little water for ten days. There were some who sat quietly, some who cried and sobbed, some who called for help and some who slowly turned mad.
They came in on the tenth day, and separated us. I recognised Lucius Malfoy as he grabbed my arm and hauled me away from those I had spent all my adult life trying to protect. I was too weak to protest, and a knock to my head sent me spinning in and out of consciousness. Deep down, I was glad I had been moved.
The five of us were thrown into another cell. I could only imagine what the outside world was like at this point. Both worlds, thrown into chaos. This cell had a window, and we took it in turns to try and see out into the streets, but we appeared to be surrounded by trees - and it was dark all the time anyway.
