My little one's hand holding a flower, bright and pink. The sky was singing peacefully, clouds making funny shapes. The world was odd and lovely, beautiful and strange.

Everything around you is growing bigger and bigger, even you notice that you're growing. You are a child that is learning to understand life, you are young to know right now.

But in the end you will understand.

"Daddy!" "Daddy!" a little voice spoke.

I turned around to look at my son, who was running towards me holding a box. "What is it?" I asked.

"A baby!" he exclaimed.

"A baby?" I thought. I wonder why would anyone leave their child? "Is it in the box?"

My son nodded, handing the box to me. I take closer look to see what was inside. The result was surprising.

"A kitten?" The little creature had be a few weeks old, its appearance was a gray tabby with bright blue eyes looking at us.

" A baby kitty?" My son asked. "Where are her siblings?" Where's her mommy?"

"I don't know where they could be." We looked around the park to see if there's a cat that looked exactly like the kitten, but we couldn't find anything, not even a missing poster about the kitten.

"It doesn't look like she belong to anyone, she's probably abandoned by the mother."

My son's expression was saddened, looking at the little creature. "But...mommies don't leave their babies, they take care of them and love them." "Just like mommy."

Just like her, huh? I smiled a little, remembering the times we had together.

How we met when we were teenagers, our first kiss, the proposal on her birthday, the day of our wedding, the birth of our child...

Those days were irreplaceable, they were all a part of me. Just like she was...

My son always tell me what was his mother look like, that was the question he asked a few times since he was 6 years old.

You were just like her, you have her smile. Your eyes shine like the sun. She wanted to be a hero, helping people whenever she can.

She can be clumsy at times, but she always get back on her feet.

I will never forget the day she told me, "No matter what happens, I'll be there for you until the very end." "I want our son to live his life, a long, happy life."

Nanami...I...

"Daddy?"

"What is it?"

"Can we keep it?"

I thought about it for a moment before answering, "Well we can, but we both have to take responsibility for her."

My son quickly added, " I'll take care of her daddy!" "I won't let her out of my sight!" "Promise."

I smiled at him. "Okay, it's a deal." I hold out my hand for a handshake.

"Deal." His little hand shake mine.

"The sun is setting, we should probably head back."

"Okay daddy." my son smiled.

"What are we gonna call her?" I asked.

"...Nana."

Nana...what a beautiful name.

My little one growing strong, to become the person he want to be.

He brings out the best in people, to bring a smile on their faces.

Oneday, he will be a hero. But for now, let him be a kid.

Living happily the best he can be.

Thank you for everything, Nanami.

Hope you all enjoy my oneshot! I am celebrating my mom's birthday, this is like a birthday present for everything she has done. :) I hope this little story makes you remember the times you had as a kid. As for the character talking in the oneshot? I'll let you figure it out, he is one of my favorite characters. The son is an OC of mine, and he will appear in future stories, along with the kitten. Also, my sister's birthday is today!

See you soon! ;)
