A pile of dry leaves
By : Kana
Autumn has already arrived. Faster than the years before. It fleeds for the cold hand of Winter it feels in its back. Or so the fire tells me.
I sigh softly when I feel Roxanne's arms around my waist, and I lean back against her chest. Her hot breathing caresses my neck. And once again I silently thank Silvertongue for having brought me back.
"He might not be your son. But you love him as one."
Her voice is soft, and her eyes are looking at the same scene as I am.
Neither of us can hold back the smile that graces our lips. Not even Roxanne, even if she dislikes the boy.
Gwin and Jinx are running after each other, chasing one other, while Farid tries to catch then. To keep them apart so they wouldn't hurt each other.
Of course the martens are only playing. Playing with Farid. And his patience...
A soft chuckle leaves my lips, and I can feel Roxanne laugh softly behind me as well, when I see what these 2 little devils are up to.
Whoever said martens weren't smart?
An indignified squeel leaves Farid's lips when he loses his balance and falls backwards, right into the pile of dry leaves that Roxanne has cleaned away just this morning.
"You love him, don't you."
I close my eyes for a second and place my hands on top of his.
"Yeah, I do."
I can hear her sigh, even though she tries to hold it back.
"Than I will love him as my son as well. If he means so much to you..."
Smiling I turn around in her embrace. Gently kissing her lips. An uncharacterish giggle escapes her, and she blushes slightly, before losening her hold.
With some movements of her hands she shoo's teh 2 martens away from the boy, before holding out her hand to pull him on his feet.
Farid's eyes widen, for just a second, before he smiles and grabs her hand.
The smile stays on my face when I see the 2 of them start to have a conversation. The first one since they met. Perhaps this story, as Silvertongue and Meggie would say, truelly does have a happy ending.
A soft whistle and Gwin and Jinx are on my shoulders just a couple of seconds later.
"Little devils."
