Another original Thomas story by Samantha613, this time it's "Percy's Assistant" Enjoy and comment.
It was a beautiful day on the Island of Sodor, and all the engines were really busy, taking passengers all around the island.
Percy's favorite job is pulling the mail every day for dusk to dawn.
"I love helping deliver mail to everyone on the Island of Sodor.", Percy said to himself.
One day, Percy was feeling sick. His fire wouldn't start, and he had no steam.
"I don't feel too good," he groaned to the others.
"Somebody has to deliver the mail for me tonight."
Just then, an idea flew into Percy's funnel.
"Why don't I ask James to pull the mail for me!" thought Percy.
And sooner than later, James puffed in.
"Can you pull the mail train for me tonight?" asked Percy.
"Why of course!" replied James.
"Thank you, James. That's very kind of you.", Percy replied.
And so James took on Percy's job for the day.
James was making record time pulling the mail train.
Until, there was a problem. One of the letters had no address on it!
James was afraid that if he messed up delivering the wrong mail to the wrong place, he could get both Percy and himself in trouble.
"I can't give up on this. Percy trusted me with this job and I have to get it right."
"We'll get it right." said his driver.
He went around some places to see if one had the mail's address.
It took him nearly half the day to find the place with the same mailing address.
Once he found it, he delivered the letter to the right address.
It was dark when James arrived back.
"Hello, James. I'm so happy to you. Did you like delivering the mail from dawn till dusk?", Percy asked James.
"It was a real pleasant experience. However, I'm glad to see that you're feeling up to your job again, Percy.", said James.
Percy was glad to hear that the mail was delivered on time.
"Thanks for taking on my mail delivery job for the day, James. You really helped a friend in need.", Percy said.
"You're welcome, Percy. It's what friends are meant for"
James and Percy found out while on their important and useful jobs that one friend can find that there is another friend in need that's willing to help.
