I own nothing. Twilight is S. Meyer's, 'Stars Over Texas' is Tracy Lawrence's. This deals with Jasper's feelings at Alice's return from Italy. I chose this particular song because 1) it's good : P and 2) because Jasper's from Texas!
Driving to airport with my family to pick up Alice, Edward and Bella freshly back from their Italy adventures, was torture. Carlisle drove, and I don't know how he kept his speed under 100 mph. Perhaps that's why he didn't let me drive. I know not to worry for Alice, but the last several days, have been the worst I've lived in a long time. I suppose I draw such strength from Alice. When she's away, the air in the room is sucked out, and I lay there panting for breath.
Standing at the gate, I try to calm everyone, but my own nerves are so frayed. But, as soon as I see my pixie walking towards me, all is right with the world. She walks up where we're close enough to embrace, but we don't. The emotion is too intense, especially with masses of people milling about. I just look into her eyes, able to breath for the first time in days.
Later that night, she holds fast to my hand and walks up to our room. With the door shut, she clutches me close. I relish it, with so much going on, I need her calming presence. Ironic, I usually calm people but I'm a sad wretch of being without her.
As we lay there, saying nothing, she asks if I will sing for her. I only do it occasionally and though I can't see her thoughts, I know which song she wants to hear. The first song I ever sang to her.
As you lie in my arms my heart's on my sleeve
Words come so hard in moments like these
There's feelings I have that are so hard to show
But right now there's one thing I want you to know
As long as the tides ebb, the earth turns, the sun sets
I promise I'll always be true and as long as there's stars over Texas
Darling I'll hang the moon for you
I know I have stumbled and caused you some tears
When you needed me most I haven't always been here
I know I'm not always the man I should be
But don't ever wonder what you mean to me
As long as there's stars over Texas
I'll hang the moon for you
