A/N: Just a short one shot to take a break from writing Second Chances. I've got many chapters up and ready to publish, but there is still much to write. There will probably be more of these since I've written plenty of one shots in the past. I just have to go through my notes and look for them. Enjoy!

"Erik, can I speak with you?" Christine's voice was serious, but there was a softness to it.

Erik stood from his piano and straightened his coat. "What is it, my angel?" He asked, approaching her.

She smiled sweetly. "Erik," she said, "I've visited the doctor."

His mask shifted as he raised a brow. How was this any of his concern? Was she going to tell him the doctor said she was perfectly healthy?

"I've been feeling a bit sick every now and then and my appetite has grown," she continued. "He examined me and confirmed it. I'm pregnant!" She seemed so excited.

Erik's heart dropped. Him? A father? Erik dropped to his knees in front of her, splaying his fingers over her stomach. He spoke to the child and to her. "I'm so sorry," he whispered.

She looked down at him in shock. Why is he apologizing? Didn't he want this child?

"Why are you sorry, Erik?" Her voice expressed her deepest worries. Would he help raise this child? Would he love them as much as she did?

He shook his head. "Oh, Christine. If that child gets anything from me, they will surely be damned to a life of misery."

"Erik, that's not true."

"Christine!" He said. "Look at my face, look at my body, look into my eyes! The things I've had to endure just for the hopes of someday being free from myself."

"Erik, I do not care how our child turns out so long as they are kind. We will love them no matter what because we know they are beautiful either way. And if they just so happen to get that mind of yours—that mind you curse for the darkness it brings—I will show them the beauty within it as well."

Erik looked up to Christine, eyes glimmering and full of love. His lips were parted, surprised by the beautiful things she'd just said.

"I love you, Erik. I love our child as well and they will be fine."

"Christine, you are the loveliest creature to ever walk this earth."

She leaned down and placed a small kiss on his forehead. Erik stood and dusted himself off.

"I must prepare lesson plans for them," he said. "They will be beautiful and musical. They will be you and I."
