WHY?
He stared at the lake, trying to come up with answers to his queries. The major question in his head was 'why'? Why had his parents sacrificed themselves for him? Why had he been sent to his aunt's house? Why was Voldemort after him? He was sure that he was a normal by, if one excluded the fact that he was the supposed 'Boy who Lived'. These questions kept circling his head, until he could control them no more. So he decided to find answers to these questions. To his head, there was only one person, who knew the answers to his questions – Dumbledore. So, he got up from where he was sitting on a big rock and began his long journey to the Headmaster's office.
Once he reached the gargoyle, that was guarding the headmaster's office, he tried to think of what the password could be. He kept voicing out names of different sweets, knowing the Headmaster's sweet tooth, until he got it right (Licorice Wand). He then stood on the spiralling staircase, which would take him to the Dumbledore's office. When he reached the top, he knocked on the door. But he did not get any response. So he cautiously opened the door, only to find the office empty except for Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix. Upon noticing his presence, Fawkes trilled happily at him. He then flew straight to him and landed on his right shoulder, before starting to groom him.
Harry then sat down on one of the chairs that was facing the Headmaster's desk, before starting to pet Fawkes. He found the repetitive motion soothing and unknowingly spilled all his questions to the bird. After he had finished, Fawkes let out a burst of song which gave Harry a renewed hope and at the same time also proved to relax him.
With a sigh, Harry got up. "Thanks Fawkes," he said and left the room, unaware of the two thinking eyes that followed him out.
