Severus Snape was walking through the empty Hogwarts corridors, black cloak billowing behind him, wand in his hand. He was searching for Harry Potter, and he would have him, wether his sideckicks be there to 'help' or not. Suddenly, rounding a corner, he faced a dead-end, guarded by a gargoyle. Snape sneered. How very sentimental indeed - Potter wanted to have this battle in Dumbledore's office.
Snape approached the gargoyle, which eyed him malevontly. He stared it down for a few seconds, thinking. "Ginevra" he said, his eyes glittering maliciously. Grudgingly, the gargoyle sprang aside, letting him pass. Severus sniffed in distaste. How predictable, he thought.
Ready for anything, wand out, he silently magicked the inner door to the office open, and threw himself flat to the wall, dodging nonexistent curses. That was new, he thought. Usually Potter and Co charged full-force the second they saw something suspicious. The silence that met him was slightly unnerving. He shook the feeling off, and inched slowly to the left, risking a peek inside. The office seemed empty and peaceful. That didn't fool the former potions Master. Potter was there, somewhere, hiding. And he had to be ready.
Silently still, Severus Disillusioned himself, and, taking extreme care, he slipped inside. He was met by total silence. Nothing stirred. Only specks of dust danced in the dusk light, pouring through the windows. He looked around - nothing. This is impossible, he thought. Too stupid, even for Potter - set him on a false trail and leave, missing the only chance of revenge...
Snape huffed in frustration, and ran a hand through his hair. Suddenly, he heard a gasp, and a shush. He whipped around, sending a Sectusempra curse at the sound, and at the same time, he heard two voices shout "Apparea!" simultaneously, making his body take back its own appearance. Enraged at being so easily tricked, he brandished his own wand "Avada-.." A familiarly loathed voice cut him off, sounding cold and distant :"Crucio!"
The world erupted into pain so intense Snape crumpled onto the floor, hands balled into fists, wand feets away, hearing himself screaming, his voice reverberating from the walls...
Suddenly, the pain stopped, and he could see again. Standing above him was Harry Potter, wand still pointed at Severus' chest, green eyes unreadable. He watched Potter reach down and take his wand, then, as if in slow motion, break it in two. Still keeping eye contact, Harry said quietly "Hermione, Ron, help me"
Both his former students entered Snape's range of vision. Hermione Granger was looking nervous, and chewing on her bottom lip. With a glance at Harry, she nodded to herself, pointed her wand at Severus, and said clearly and loudly: "Petrificus Totalus!". He felt his bogy go rigid.Ronald Weasleystepped next to Hermione, and, with a look of triumph hidden in his eyes, he levitated Severus, seating him into a straight-backed chair. Then fiery ropes shot out from the tip of the girl's wand, bindinghim more securely.
Harry Potter watched them working, his facial expression still blank, only his eyes were glowing bright green. As soon as the two others finished with Snape, he looked at the door of the office, which banged shut, and Summoned three armchairs. He took the middle seat, and his gaze locked with Snape's black one again.
"And now, Snape, you shall tell me more than you ever told Voldemort, and all that you concealed from Dumbledore back in the day."
The fierce green gaze was unavoidable. Severus knew that this time, there would be no escape.
He felt his jaws unfreeze, and took a ragged breath, and then his doom had fallen, in the shape of one word.
"Imperio"
